The YWCA O’Neil Preschool (formerly “Child Development Center – 34th Street”) provides for the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of each child. Each child is accepted as a unique individual with unique needs. Staff works with children in groups and on an individual basis to meet these needs.
Teaching staff participates in a minimum of thirty hours of professional training annually, as well as maintaining certification in CPR and First Aid. Teachers are encouraged to seek higher education in the field of Early Childhood Education. Employees are trained in the importance of maintaining a safe environment for children.
The YWCA O’Neil Preschool CDC is a four-star Rising Star center as designated by Texas Workforce Child Care Services. This means that we have shown a willingness to provide the highest quality care possible, according to Texas Workforce standards. The center also provides a Texas School Ready Partner classroom which provides preschool children with the skills and knowledge they need as they move into Kindergarten. The O’Neil Preschool CDC also partners with LISD Texas Literacy Initiative project focusing on early childhood (0-3years) literacy and language development.
We encourage parents to participate in the daily activities of the program, as well as special events throughout the year. It is only by working together as families and childcare providers that we will successfully meet the needs of each child.
The YWCA’s O’Neil Preschool is located at 3101 34th Street.
