Community Youth Development
The YWCA Community Youth Development Program (CYD) serves youth between the ages of 8 to 17 in the 79403, 79404, 79412 and 79415 zip codes. All curriculum is based on the 40 Developmental Assets established by the Search Institute.
Mentoring, youth leadership development, post high school development, and the establishment of a Youth Advisory Committee are mandatory service components that each local CYD program must provide. In addition, a vast array of services has been developed to meet specific community youth needs, including:
- life skills and leadership development
- character education
- conflict resolution
- programs that promote family support and involvement
